Take Good Care of You!
Taking good care of you means different things to different people. My goal as a therapist is to help figure out what that means to you, right here and now, and then to help you apply that to your life.
About Me
RuthAnn R. Lester, PsyD
Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Hello! My name is RuthAnn, and I believe that there are many ways to “do therapy” well. Therapy can be brief and educational; therapy can be ongoing and more relational; and therapy can be intermittent with “episodes of care” here and there as needed. I have seen all these approaches work with the people I have supported over the years. My therapeutic approach is integrated, or what I like to think of as “tailored.” By taking a biopsychosocial-spiritual approach to health and well-being, my goal is to collaborate with you as we figure out what is going on, and what will be most helpful next. Then we make it happen!
My style is warm, encouraging, and action-oriented. Expect to laugh as well as cry when we work together. I will earn your trust and help you achieve the goals you identify as important. I identify as Christian and particularly love working with people who want to incorporate their faith, Christian or otherwise, into the therapeutic process. I am also an Ally. I deeply appreciate working with those who chose careers in service to others: military, first responders, medical, etc. And I am a great fit for those who like to “nerd out” about mental health from time to time. I love supporting people who are ready to make changes, heal, and grow. I get so excited when the people I serve start making progress, and my default is to give enthusiastic encouragement, and support.
I completed my training at University of Denver’s (DU’s) Graduate School of Professional Psychology (GSPP), where I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD). I started my education by double majoring in Psychology and Business Administration at Rockford College, where I earned my Bachelor of Science (BS). I moved on to obtain my Master of Arts (MA) in Clinical Psychology at Wheaton College. Before starting my private practice, I served in many settings, with the bulk of my career as a Clinical Psychologist working with one of the nation’s largest health systems. I treated my clinical training and career like a buffet and made sure to get a taste of so many good things!
I named my practice “Rose Psychology,” for one main reason. Rose is my middle name, so I have been doodling a rose since I was a little girl. Despite how much I have changed throughout my life, that rose somehow stayed consistent. And so did my deep desire to one day become a therapist. My practice is dedicated to John 21:15; because I love Jesus, I take care of His people. I am incredibly blessed to be living my life’s calling; it’s not just what I do, it is who I am. So, whether you are new at this, or just ready for the next episode of care in your ongoing process, I would love to see if we will work well together. It would be a privilege to help you love your life as we figure out what it means to take good care of you.

TREATMENT
As far as my approach to therapy is concerned, I am about as integrated as they come! My therapeutic philosophy is trauma-informed and influenced by Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), an approach that supports values-guided action. However, with an adamant assertion that every person is one of a kind, my care often includes elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and other modalities including Psychodynamic and Strengths-Based Therapy. The care I provide is tailored in a manner that reflects a biopsychosocial-spiritual understanding of what it means to be human. Ultimately, my head seeks to deliver the education and interventions that are indicated, using best practices and empirically validated treatments, while my heart will always prioritize caring for the unique soul I am privileged to serve.
Cost / Insurance
My rate for individual therapy (45-55 minutes) is $200.
Rose Psychology primarily chooses to operate as a private pay practice to protect your confidentiality and to ensure I have the clinical freedom to treat you based on your mental health needs, not simply based on diagnostic criteria from an insurance company. Rose Psychology does accept some insurance plans, including Aetna.
Many health insurance plans reimburse 50-80% of session fees with out-of-network therapists. Click here to see if your health insurance plan qualifies.
If your insurance plan offers out-of-network benefits and you wish to submit for reimbursement, please let me know you need a “superbill” (CMS-1500) form.
Rose Psychology is not a Medicaid provider.

Chemistry Call
A “Chemistry Call” is a 10 – 15 minute phone call to get an idea about whether we are a good fit for therapy. I start by collecting some info, then I find out a little about you, and what you are hoping for with therapy. After that, I tell you a little more about me and what therapy with me is like. We don’t go into anything in depth with a Chemistry Call; we just get a general idea about whether we should move forward in therapy together. Then, if it feels like a fit, we discuss the next steps to begin treatment.
